Hello Sir, My name is Ravi, I got a call regarding my friend Deepak., my breath was bloated.

Sir, he was unconscious when we brought him here, he is in the operation theater. The receptionist said.

An hour passed, I saw a doctor came out of the OT.

Do we have someone from Deepak's family? He asked the Receptionist.

hello Doctor, I am Ravi, Deepak's friend. How is he, now?

[We went to Doctor's room]

He is still unconscious. But, He got a major head injury, a fracture on his right thigh and right arm. We have shifted him in the ICU, and we will keep him there for one-day observation. We can give you more update tomorrow morning. There are some formalities needs to be done, please talk to the receptionist.

Will he be alright? I asked, nervously

He should be, but we are waiting for him to wake-up, for further examinations.

After all the formalities, I came back home. The clock shows 6 AM when I reached home. I had a glass of water and sat on the sofa, I still couldn't believe what all happened.

I went to sleep after some time.

[I woke up with Phone ring]

I was in half sleep and as soon as I tried to pick-up, it got disconnected.

4 miscalls(Anu, Anu, Home, Rohit(My Manager)) 7 messages. One spam message "Looking for someone special, give miscall on 56789", rest all were from Anu.

Good Morning Ji. 7:30 AM

Good morning Ravi sir. 7:45 AM

Still sleeping, its 9 wakes up. 9:05 AM.

Why are you not picking up the call? where are you? 9:30 AM

Is everything ok? 9:47 AM

Please call back I am worried. 10:30 AM

I called Rohit, and tell him about the miss happening with Deepak, and took off for today. Also, ask him to update Deepak's manager.

I looked at the time, it says 11:05 AM.

At 11:45 AM I was in the Hospital. I don't remember when I acted so fast.

I met with the doctor.

He is out of danger, but have some major injuries which will take time to recover, doctor said

How much time, It will take for him to recover, I asked

See, full recovery will take months, but we will keep him here for a month maybe but don't worry we will update you whatever suits better, he assured me.

Can I see him now?, I asked

Yes, sure, he said.

I thanked him again and came out, I reached ICU, but unfortunately couldn't meet him, as he was sleeping.

The receptionist said, You can come again at 6:00 PM. We will call you once he will be shifted to the room.

I had lunch in the hospital canteen and came back home.

I tried to sleep, but with some thoughts, I typed a message, "hey, wassup" to Anu, I cleared that and called her.

Hello, where are you? why are you not replying to my messages? Why are you not picking up my calls? I was worried. She asked questions back to back.

I am fine Anu, Thank you, I ignored the questions, and responded

Oh Sorry, Ravi, How are you? I was very tense, she said.

That's alright, I replied.

We will talk one you are back home, I suggested

Is everything alright? She asked.

Yes, now everything is fine, but I am sleeping, just wanted to talk. I replied

No problem, take rest, bye. She said

Bye, I replied.

I dialed another number, calling Rohit.

Hey Rohit,

Hi Ravi, how is Deepak now?

I told him everything and told him I might not come tomorrow as well.

I will be going there at 5:30 PM and I will keep you posted.

Take care and let me know if you need something, Rohit said.

Thank you, Rohit. I said and disconnected the call

I put the mobile aside and try to sleep for some time. I don't know how, but I woke up at 5:00 PM, without any alarm. I got up and reached the hospital at 5:45 PM.

I realized that Deepak was already shifted to a three sharing Room. He was sleeping when I step in, I saw one saline bottle kept near to his head and another one hanged and the liquid was flowing through him.

I sat on the chair next to his bed.

My mobile rang, I immediately put it on silent, it's Anu. I cut the call.

She called again, I disconnected and send a message I will call you back in 10 min.

She replied, I am standing outside your home, are you in there?

I was surprised and shocked, (I thought) I am here and she is there, what's irony. I came out and called her,

Hey Anu, sorry yar, I couldn't pick your call.

Hmm, That's fine, but where are you? She said.

I am at the hospital, I replied

Why, what happened? Are you alright? Which hospital, tell me I am coming. She asked

Yes Anu, I am fine, but its Deepak, he met with an accident last night. I replied.

We are at the City Hospital. I continued.

Can I come now? She asked

No, It’s very late. I will call you later. Don't worry. take care. I said.

Take care you too, she said and disconnected.

I came back to the room

I thought of calling his home and tell them about him but I let go the idea.

I realized that I didn't bring his mobile with me, his family must be calling him.

I was thinking all this, and don't know when I slept there itself, seating on the chair next to Deepak's bed.

I stayed in the hospital that night, Deepak couldn’t sleep properly and waking up again and again, due to pain. He slept off, once the nurse came and gave a pain killer injection.

Next day morning, he woke up at 7 AM.

I asked, "how are you now?"

"better, but too much pain in the body" he replied

“don’t worry buddy, you will be alright soon”, I said

“I am going home, and will be back in some time”, do you need anything, I asked

Nothing, but come soon, please, he said.

Sure, buddy, take care. I replied.( I can sense the amount of pain he was into)

I came home, freshen up and went to sleep.

At 1:00 PM, My phone rang, Anu Calling

Hey!! How are you? Can we talk if you don’t mind? She said.

That's fine, I replied

how is Deepak now? She asked

I told her everything and she started crying,

why are you crying? he'll be fine soon and he'll be back home in a month. I said

Anu, I need to go to Hospital again, we will talk later(actually, I want her to stay on the call)

Alright, take care of yourself and Deepak. bye. She said.

Bye. I said before disconnecting the call.

I went to hospital and stayed for that night as well, as Deepak insisted.

Next day morning I called Rohit and tell him about what has happened and I will be taking leave for today also. Despite what happened yesterday, Deepak woke up in less pain, but honestly, I couldn't see him like that.

Our colleagues came in to meet him in the evening. They brought flowers and get well soon card. Meanwhile, my eyes were looking for Anu and there she was in a white kurta and yellow salwar. She was looking damn pretty. Honestly, I would have started running, I were on bed. hello Ravi, hello Deepak, get well soon, she said and kept quiet. Everyone left in some time but she didn't said anything.

I texted her "don't feel bad he'll be fine soon"

she replied "hmm"

I told her, "I am here and there are lots of hot nurses, that will help him ready to run again, in a month.

very funny, she replied

what are you going to have in dinner she asked

nothing special, I will have something in the cafeteria, I replied

alright, she said.

[few hours passed] and Around 8 PM, Anu, called me hey, can you come at the reception?

What? Why? What are you doing here? I asked while Deepak was sleeping

They are not allowing me to come inside, that's why she said

alright will be there in 5 minutes, I replied

I told the nurse that I will be back in sometime. Deepak was still sleeping.

I saw Anu was standing there and she brought dinner for me, wow, that was the most amazing thing happened in last few days. We went to the canteen and I finished the food.

Anu, the food was very delicious, did you cooked? I asked

Yes, who else, she said

I didn't have such a tasty food for quite a long time. by the way thanks a lot you made my day.

Your welcome Ravi, she said

I really appreciate this but why so much trouble? I asked

a friend in need, a friend indeed, she smiled.

(Inside me I thanked Deepak, if he wouldn't be here then this would not be happening)

[I wanted to hug her, but resist myself]

We talked for some time before she left.

Two weeks passed, and Deepak was recovering. I started going to office but I used to meet him every day after office and we use to have dinner together and also I use to meet him on weekends.

It was Friday night and I came home at 9 PM after meeting him.

I receive a text from Anu, hello

hi Anu I replied

I just came from the hospital, I will talk to you in 10 minutes.

after some time I saw the message from her "waiting ……….."

I'm back I replied

Great!! how is Deepak? She asked

He is recovering well, stitches will open in next week, and maybe two more weeks, for the discharge, I said

oh that's great, she said.

What's the plan? I asked

nothing my roommate went for the office party and I am alone here, She said

Sad, I replied

what's yours? she asked

nothing, I am preparing dinner then a movie and some drinks, as I couldn't sleep properly for last few days, it will help, I replied

She replied with an angry smiley.

nothing like that, I won’t have much. I replied.

Which one will you have? She said.

What all you know?, I asked

I don't know much about it but I just heard about Signature, Royal Challenge, and Vodka. She replied.

I hate all these, I will have Vat 69, I replied

Can I try? she said.

Yes sure, when Deepak is home, we will go out, My treat, I said

No, I mean right now? She asked

Are you serious? I asked

She replied "yes why not, I never tried, I never did, so let's try today, what say?

Sure, the doors open for you, come over I said.

Welcome home, Anu

I am cooking rice and chicken, do you need anything else.

Chicken, I love it, she said it enthusiastically

she bought some potato chips and some snacks with her.

Looks like you have planned a quick party, nice I like it, I said

This is "Chakna", I heard people called it . she replied

That's alright Anu, please feel comfortable.

[After 15 minutes]

Chicken is ready, rice is ready, drinks are here, and "chakna" is also here, we are all set :P. I said.

[inner me - There are few people in your life, whose presence makes the environment so positive, which makes you forgot all your troubles and tensions.]

I pour the drinks and asked

Soda, water, Cold drink, on the rocks or neat :P

Neat, No way, but how will you have, I will copy the same. She suggested

OK, then we have it with water and I will add some Cold drink so the bitterness will get reduced for you as it's your first time. I replied

Yeah that sounds good, she agreed

I made a toast, Cheers for "the good life and good wife",

excuse me she interrupted.

Ah, I am sorry, "cheers for ok-ok husband for Anu"

Ha-ha-ha, she laughed sarcastically

just joking, I said.

she took a sip and said, nice yar, it's not that bad,

who is saying its bad, but this is your first time, so have it slowly, I suggested.

She took a bite of chicken, Wow Ravi, this is amazing, very delicious, please teach me as well.

Sure why not, I will charge 2000 bucks for one session. By the way, this is you or the drink.

I am fine, seriously "Sach Bol Rahi Hoon," she said.

alright I got it, this is Anu, who is praising, but I have heard drunk people saying "that they are not drunk" and I laughed.

Chup Raho, she said

She played some English songs.

We were three drinks down, and then she stood up and dancing on an English song "Cheap Thrills".

I didn't expect she would dance so well, I was amazed and thinking is it really happening, my heart was skipping a beat on her every move, her dance was so perfect.

She dragged me to join her.

I laughed, wait let me finish my drink. I told her.

I can’t dance on English songs, I said

She passed the mobile to me.

I stood up but before that, I changed the song, I played a Punjabi song "3 Peg". And I joined her, she whistles as soon as I started. Her whistle was so loud, I couldn't believe it, hey wow Anu, that's was amazing, I said.

stop talking and keep dancing, she said

We sat and had another drink.

In the next moment, she played a track "Ed Sheeran – Shape of You" and she started singing the song,

"I may be crazy, don't mind me

Say, boy, let's not talk too much

Grab on my waist and put that body on me".

She stood up and pull Me with her and started doing "foxtrot dance". She put my hand on her waist and put her hands on my shoulder.

Anu, are you ok, I asked

Shhh, Ravi just dances.

I went with the flow, we both were high and we were dancing for some time and then she comes close to me and kissed me on my lips, it took us a couple of seconds to realize what was happening.

Oh, sorry, I am sorry Ravi, she said

That's okay, are you alright. please sit, I said

I stopped the music and ask her do you want some water

Yes, she replied.

Are you alright? I asked again

Yes, I'm fine, she replied

we had dinner but there was a complete silence, she was not saying anything and I am good in copying.

I should go now, she said.

Alright Anu, should I drop you home, Its very late. I offered

Ok, thank you she said.

[after 5 minutes, we were at her PG]

she ran straight away inside and didn't say anything.

I came back, cleaned up everything and went to sleep. I woke up with a call, It's Anu,

I felt, why am I putting the alarms, because its normal now a days that I am waking up with her calls.

it took me less than a second to remember what happened last night.

Hey, Anu said

hey, good morning, sorry I was sleeping. I replied

I know, she said

[again silence] after 5-6 seconds

you had food, [inside me what the hell was that did you check the time], I asked

I don't have anything to say please don't be so formal, she said.

and sorry I behaved very unexpected, last night, Anu continued

that's alright, I don't remember it actually, I said.

oh is it? so you forgot everything that happened last night, she asked

It's not like that, I do remember, I said

alright so tell me what happened she asked.

we drank, we dance, we had dinner, you enjoyed the chicken and had almost all, and that's it I said.

that's it, she asked

yep, what else? I said.

you seriously forgot or hiding something, she asked.

Anu, we both know what are you referring, and I don't want that moment should create any differences, that's it, I said.

I am coming to meet you, she said.

Now? I just woke up, I told her

Ok, you have 30 minutes prepare tea for me and she disconnected.

For the first time she was very punctual in the next 30 minutes she was here, sitting on the couch.

Yes, tell me now, you don't remember, she asked again

nothing like this Anu I just don't want you to be uncomfortable. I replied

Ravi, I enjoyed it, and I like you but it will happen like this, I never thought., Honestly whatever happened was awesome. thank you for inviting me for small get together and thank you very much for the chicken and every single moment I spent.

I was just looking at her and kept silence, (inside me what is this happening right now? I couldn't believe it, I wanted to get up and dance, I feel like just get up and hold her and the kiss her again and this time for a longer duration.)

but suddenly my phone rang, [inside me - What the hell? people have very perfectly imperfect timing], I calm down myself, it was Deepak.

kahan hai kaminey, abhi main Zinda Hoon he said.

Will be there shortly, do you need anything, I asked him

Get your ass here ASAP, he said and disconnected

Anu, I am leaving for the hospital, do you want to join me. I asked her.

that's alright Ravi, you carry on. I need to finish some work, She said.

I asked you something? She continued

I liked that too, and not only like, It was awesome. And I like you also, from the day one, since I saw you and what happened last night was more than just amazing. I don't have words to express it, but I was surprised, shocked, happy, amazed and confused at the same moment so didn't understand what to say I don't want to say anything which ruins that moment so, I kept quiet.

Finally, she stood up and hug me and I join her in this.

[inside me, "Jis Chand ko pane ki khwahish thi,

Aaj wo chand Bhi Hamara hai, or uski Chandni bhi"

[wow what a start of the day]

All right, let's go I'll drop you and then I will meet Deepak.

sounds good, listen, Ravi, I don't want anyone know about this, she said

oh no, Anu, you should have told me earlier I just spoke to AAJTAK and they will be covering live. I replied.

Bad joke, she said

Don't worry Anu, it's our secret, now let's go, else Deepak will come here and beat me, I said

In next 30 minutes, I was with Deepak. I spoke to the doctor, they said. he is recovering well and if everything goes well he can go home in 3 weeks.

Weeks Passed and Deepak was recovering very well, his stitches opened, but the fracture was there, meanwhile, we(Anu and I) started having late night talks "miss you", "kiss you" and other things which we feel “faltu” when single but loved it when in a relationship. Now we meet up frequently, we went out for dinner, we go for movies.

I thought of telling Deepak about this but I was waiting for him to come back home. He is going to get the discharge in next 2 days. I took him to my place after the discharge and told him that he will be staying with me till he is fit and fine. I bought all his belongings to my flat.

Ravi, you are my best friend, I love you, He said and smiling

He opened one drawer and takes out the half-filled VAT69, now you see how soon I will be fine. He said

Ya ok, But not right now, have your medicine and sleep for some time, I insisted

Sure, mummy Ji, he said

We had lunch and then we played Play station. I didn't know when the clock shows 6 PM.

Let me prepare food, I said

Bro, no need of any trouble, I have already ordered the food. Deepak said

Alright, I replied.

He was trying to get up, I helped him, he resist and said, let me try my own.

Sure buddy, I said.

He went in the room and bought VAT69.

I laughed, very smart.

We pour our drinks and made a toast, "for Deepak's homecoming", cheers

After having 6-7 drinks, we were talking about things.

Deepak's mobile buzzed.

Deepak smiled after reading that message and kept the phone aside.

After some time his mobile beeped, now he picked up and said

I love her buddy.

Love her, whom? I asked

Sorry yar, I wanted to tell you earlier, but was waiting for the right moment, Deepak said

No problem buddy, tell me in detail, I asked in excitement

Its Anu, he said

I was shocked, and my legs started to shiver

But I didn’t let him realize.

I asked in excitement, great, since when?

You know the competition day, we went out for tea, and I told her about my feelings, she didn’t said anything on that day, but one day she came to the hospital, she bought food for me and she told me about her feelings.

She told me not to tell anyone, that's why I hide it from you,

She came regularly, in the hospital and brink food for me, he continued

I realized Deepak slept on the Sofa, and I adjusted him there itself and cleaned up the things.

I saw his mobile buzzed again, I unlocked his mobile [inside me, Not from Anu, not from Anu, please god]

"I am sleeping, Goodnight Mr. D, Love you" from Anu

I was stunned at that moment, I almost drop the plate but managed myself. I came to my room and unlocked his mobile and open the chat from her.

I read the complete chat, and I don't know what came in my mind, I typed a message from My mobile, "come down, I have a surprise".

She replied, "what happened?"

I typed another text" please come for 5 minutes, I wanted to see you"

She said, " Deepak slept??"

I text back, "Yes, he slept, he doesn't have that stamina to drink :P".

"Ok, let me know once you are here", She replied

[within 5 minutes, I am at her PG]

I typed a text " Hello, I am here"

"Coming" she replied

I saw she was standing on her balcony and smiling, She waved her hand from the there.

She came and hugged me. "where is the surprise," she asked.

"Sure, 1 second", I said.

I took out Deepak's mobile and send a message to Anu, "I love you too, baby"

She read it and as soon as she looks up, I slapped her.

"Why?", I just said that

And came back home. She was standing there, holding her mobile.

I deleted that message from Deepak's mobile and went to sleep.
